A super easy Daisy & Chamomile Balm Recipe

4–6 minutes

Welcome back dear readers to the second part of the easily crafted daisy flower skincare recipes! In “A Skin Refreshing Daisy Flower Tea & An Easy Face Mask Recipe” we looked at some of the health benefits daisy flowers add to our lifestyle and in particular our skin. Additionally, I shared a traditional and simply adorable spring and summer face mask recipe with you.

In today’s post, we are going to level up on our homemade cosmetics skills with this easy recipe for a soothing flower balm. It’s a fantastic balm to remedy dry patches of skin or to apply as a nourishing skincare after summer sun bathing. The balm is adding a protective layer to the skin and the ingredients feel wonderfully calming and refreshing, making this balm a great alternative to apply as occasional intensified evening care.

We will be crafting a classical herbal balm with some coconut oil added optionally, depending on your preferences. In case you have been stopping yourself, shying away as making one’s own skincare is difficult, look no further. After giving this super easy balm recipe straight from the traditional herbal remedy cabinet a try, you might not get enough and start crafting all sorts of variations to your own balms, cremes and lotions.

According to a legend, chamomiles are enchanted soldiers. Chamomile is considered a symbol of strength, coupled with modesty, and in Germanic tradition is the plant of the sun god Baldur. Daisies worn as chains, was seen as a way to protect you from you being carried away by fairies. It is regarded as one of the flowers that represent happiness, innocence and therefore our inner child. Inner child work can bring about a happier, playful immersion in life and its daily activities. It can help us see through and overcome unhealthy patterns, like when the inner child goes wild throwing a tantrum in situations that we could handle totally differently now as an adult. A beautiful aspect of inner child work is “play”! This crafty and smudgy activity to make your own calming daisy and chamomile balm for yourself, friends or loved ones can be a fantastic fun for both: adult and inner child you. So let’s get two bowls, a sieve or kitchen towel and a mortar, spatula or spoon out as we are getting crafty!

A homemade Daisy & Chamomile Blossoms Balm

A delightfully soothing balm. The more beeswax you add the harder your skincare will be. Adding coconut oil or sheabutter and almond oil will turn your balm into a lighter creme or lotion.

⏱️ Prep Time 60 – 90 min

🥣 Bowl size 250 ml (~ 0.5 pint)

🧴 Balm 2 filled cosmetic pots/ several applications

Ingredients

  • 100 mg Olive Oil
  • 10 – 20 g of dried Daisy flowers
  • 10 – 20 g of dried Chamomile blossoms
  • 10 g Beeswax
  • 20 g Coconut oil (optional)

Directions

  1. Mix 100 mg Olive oil with 10 – 20g dried daisy flowers, 10 – 20g chamomile blossoms
  2. Heat the oil over a water bath to a maximum of 70 degrees
  3. Steer it while it heats up, overall steer and soak the herbs for 20 to 30 minutes
  4. Sieve or strain the oil through a cloth to remove the herbs
  5. Add 10g of beeswax and 20g coconut oil to a new metal bowl while mixing it with the olive oil daisy chamomile infusion. In case the beeswax doesn’t melt, heat the mix a bit over the water bath until it’s liquid
  6. Steer until the mixture starts to cool down and harden ever a little more

The key to a good homemade balm or creme is a bit of…patience! We lovingly have to steer the balm cold. It all doesn’t take long and neither is it challenging to do, however, following this little advice will ensure your balms or cremes come out wonderfully! Get a spatula or teaspoon ready to smudge the balm into the beautiful little cosmetic pots linked below or any other clean container you find. You will be able to use your self-made balm for roundabout 3 months.

-with love-

Where to buy Daisy flowers, Chamomile blossoms, Beeswax or the little pots to store homemade skincare

Linked below for you are purchase options of the ingredients and pots that I used in the balm recipe above. Living in the countryside, I order many things online, hence I only recommend products I truly value. Nevertheless, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualified purchases, so buying through these links, you will indirectly contribute to our blog (at no extra costs for you).

Daisy flowers: Naturix24 Daisy Tea – Daisy Whole – 100g Bag

Chamomile blossoms: Biotiva Infusão de flores de camomila orgânica 100 g – preenchida e verificada na Alemanha (DE-ÖKO-005)

While it’s super easy to get a nice biological coconut oil in most supermarkets, it’s a bit harder to find beeswax. Here the one I used 100% pastilhas de cera de abelha puras – 200 gramas – perfeito para a produção de cosméticos e velas

Cute little cosmetic pots: 6 peças de 20 ml frascos cosméticos, frasco de creme com tampa de plástico, frasco de creme reutilizável, para guardar cremes e loções

Please note: As with all things in life, some things will have ripple effects and the amounts make the difference. So please don’t overdose herbal teas either.
